Carmela is approximately 5 years old and weighs in at 9 pounds. She is listed as a  Chihuahua mix.  She was one of 14 dogs removed from a hoarding situation. The females were kept outside, resulting in 4 of them testing positive for heartworms.  She was one of them.  She has not had any issues and is currently under treatment.  If Carmela is adopted, Animal Advocates will continue covering the cost of the Heartworm treatment until she is clear.  The adopter would be responsible for transporting Carmela to any vet appts and administering her medication twice a day.  So why would you want to adopt this girl?  Carmela is a very sweet pup and would be devoted to her new family.  She gets along with other dogs, but will growl if they approach while she is eating.  She has had to fight with 8 other dogs to get her food, so this should be expected.   She deserves a home where she can be pampered and loved and she will make an amazing companion.  There is so much more to this little girl, so if you are interested in her, please go on and fill out an application to allow the foster to contact you.  She is working on housebreaking and does well using a pad, she sleeps in her crate at night with no issues and she loves to be snuggled.  Don’t let this one get away, she is definitely a special girl.
