Han Solo, Solo for short, was found next to the side of the road with his sibling who, sadly, did not survive. It is obvious by how he operates he was born and raised in the woods. When he first arrived at his foster home, he treated their bedroom like a forest, the big dog bed like a bush he was hiding him…slowly venturing to the door opening to check things out before running back to the bed for safety.  He has begun to blossom. We think he’s an Anatolian Shepherd Mix. He will be a big boy when he grows up. He is extremely intelligent and always on high alert. As he has grown accustomed to living indoors and trusting people, he has started following them around and acts proud of himself when he ventures out of his usual comfort zone. He loves spending his days under his foster mom’s desk/feet.

He plays well with the other dogs in the house, ranging from 12lb to 60 lbs. He is extremely gentle and sweet when he plays. He is a big, goofy puppy through and through but also understands other dogs’ body language and messaging, so he is respectful of the older dog too.

He LOVES toys, especially loud crinkly ones and nylabones. He has NOT been destructive at all and chooses to chew and play with the toys provided for him. He loves his crate and bed, sleeping there all night and even will snuggle in there on his own during the day.  He’s 75% potty trained. He understands the concept really well, almost too well, because if you say “let’s go potty” but don’t take him right away after saying that word, he begins to cry. If you still don’t take him, he will pee at the door and then act upset with himself for doing so.

Solo is extremely smart and has already lived a very hard life. If something spooks him, he runs. As a result, he needs a home with a fenced in yard. His ears and eyesight are above average. As a result, he is extra sensitive to loud noises and loud talking or yelling. Playing music or a podcast on a digital advice, where he cannot see who or what isn’t coming from stresses him out. Reversely, he LOVES watching tv with the adults at night. He will get a bone, curl up, and watch. When something really piques his interest, he gets up excitedly and sits up, perfectly straight, centered to the tv staring intently at the screen. He LOVES it.

We have not worked on specific commands as we’ve been focused on desensitizing him to everyday objects, people, and scenarios so he can really enjoy life.  He is a big lover and would do well in a home with our without other dogs or animals. He would do well in a home with children but would ebb towards older children as he is so sensitive to sounds.
