Captain formally know as Tank was owner surrendered. His orginal owners got him as a puppy but discovered he was DEAF and decided they didn't know how to train him. He is now in a foster home who has a deaf dog and plenty of experience with training him. This is what the foster said had to say about him:

Captain is an 8 month 68lbs baby!

Words can’t even describe how well behaved Captain is both inside and outside of the home!!

Captain is friendly with other friendly dogs of all sizes.  He is playful with the dogs in his foster home, and may benefit from having another dog in the house he can play with.  Unknown with cats.   He truly thinks he is a lap dog and has tried and succeeded getting in our laps a time or two.  He gives kisses freely and enjoys a good belly rub.
Being deaf does not slow Captain down,  In the time he has been in foster care we have been working with Captain to teach him basic obedience manners.
Training Captain in basic obedience is really no different than teaching a dog that can hear,  we are just using  a different technique.  He is learning with hand signals and is a fast learner.
So far Captain has learned sit, down and roll over.   He enjoys his daily morning and evening walks, to burn off some of that puppy energy, and is learning how to walk on leash without pulling.   We can see his silly puppy playfulness when we take our walks as he tries to find the biggest stick he can carry, and if sticks aren’t available he’s searching for pine cones.
Captain will give his humans the best of both worlds, he loves to be outside playing and active but also enjoys his time inside relaxing.   Captain will do best in a home with a fenced yard, he loves napping in the sun.  He doesn’t like to be left alone for long periods of time, and prefers to be around people.  He plays with puzzle toys, chew bones and has peanut butter kongs to keep busy when on his own.
When its time to settle down inside the house, he enjoys laying on the cool floor settling himself in for an afternoon nap or a full nights rest.  Captain prefers to chew on his chew bones rather than the furniture or shoes.
He is house trained and will bark at the door when he needs to go out.
