Oreo was surrendered to an organization in south georgia due to the owner unable to care for him. They where elderly and oreo hair was badly matted when we got him..he had to be shaved down. He has a happy outgoing personality and clearly he was very loved but maybe a bit spoiled and clearly not trained. Oreo was first adopted by a retired couple but was returned due to divorce. He was then adopted by a friend of the fosters who have a 10 year old child and a larger dog. He is being returned for behavioral issues. Below is what his most recent adopter said about him: Oreo is such a lovable, smart, silly, fun dog. But he does have some possessives issues which have started to show up as he settled into our house. My honest feedback is would be great in a one person household without children. Unless the children are older and more dog experienced. Oreo is still not 100% housetrained and will need continued training on that. He also can be possessive of bones/toys/even his own poop when he around other dogs and has shown some tendonsey to be possessive around humans too, snapping at or growling over bones, etc. We kept him crated at night which he still does well with. He doesn't have potty accidents over night that I know of. No pee at least but if he poops, he may eat it to clean it up. That has been noticed twice by seeing a spot on the tile and on a rug.
He eats 1/4 cup of food in the morning and at night. He is a slow eater now. He still has allergies and I had been giving 1/2 a benadryl. Seems to help some but I realized the food I bought was NOT grain free and when I got paid tomorrow was going to work on switching him. Plus the groomer suggested salmon.
He has the zoomies like the last person mentioned too. They are hilarious and if we haven't chased him, played with him or walked him, then he does that at night when you are getting ready for bed. He doesn't need a ton of exercise. He did well with playing with my son, chasing each other through the house or the yard and playing with my other dog. He still is great in the car. He did ok at the groomers. She said he got mouthy when she trimmed near his face but being patient and talking sweet with him helped. I started working with him a little bit at home, touching near his face and talking sweet when he was calm to let him know it was ok to trust.
